Prince fans still waiting for tickets

March 30, 2016

"Welcome to the virtual waiting room."

That was the message awaiting many local Prince fans who logged on Wednesday at noon to purchase tickets to Prince's upcoming "The Piano and the Microphone Tour" on April 7 at  7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

While some fans were lucky and managed to score tickets right away, others found themselves in a holding pattern in the virtual waiting room on the Fox Theatre website.

At least one frustrated fan got through the waiting room, made it to the checkout screen, then got a "system error," and had to start all over again. Another ticket buyer reported getting through to the box office by phone and being told that tickets cost $2,500 .

The scene at the actual (not virtual) Fox Theatre box office wasn't much better. Radio personality Ryan Cameron posted an image of a line that wrapped around the building:

Tickets cost $118.90 - $386.50 with platinum tickets priced at $800 and $1,000.
