I recently wrote about the sexiest man alive in Georgia as determined by People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2015 issue and the dating app Tinder .
It took a few weeks, but I was able to track down 24-year-old Giovanni Barreto on social media. He agreed to answer a few questions about his 15-minutes of fame after being featured along with 49 other men as the sexiest men across the country.
Barreto and the other guys were the most right-swiped guys on Tinder in their respective states. Here is what Barreto, who is currently single, had to say about the whole crazy experience.
Q: What was your reaction when you found out you were the most right swiped guy in GA on Tinder?
A: I was very surprised. I really did not go on my profile that much and had no idea there were that many swipes until they contacted me.
Q: What did your friends/ family say?
A: A lot of, "Oh, let me take a picture with the sexiest man of Tinder." They teased me a lot but they were all pretty happy for me. My aunts were going to go on Tinder to right swipe me. They thought it meant to vote for me. My mom told them, "Oh please, do not do that!"
Q: How have things changed in your life since the People story?
A: Nothing really has changed. I'm still working hard and living life day by day. My mom wants me to have some modeling headshots made. We will see.
Q: What are you looking for in a girlfriend or Tinder hookup?
A: Honestly, I'm not looking for a hookup. When I am ready to settle down, I'll be looking for a woman who has her head on [right], is independent, likes to workout and have fun and is close to her family unit. No jealous girls.
Q: What are you goals for the future?
A: I am currently taking a semester off of school, trying to decide what career path I really want to take. I always wanted to be a firefighter. I am going to pursue that avenue and see where it takes me.
Q: After the People story did you get more Tinder attention?
A: I think so, more swipes, I guess, but I really don't get the chance to go on there very much with my work schedule.
Q: What advice do you have for guys hoping to increase their right swipes on Tinder?
A: Just be you, not some fake person. Be comfortable in your own skin and always be humble, because you are not better than anyone else.
