Ferris Bueller returns to the big screen
Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events have expanded the annual movie series that brings classic films back to movie theaters nationwide.
The series began in 2012 with a few screenings throughout the year. In 2016, the 20-year-old Atlanta-based network will offer up one film per month beginning in January.
Each film will have a total of four screenings (two per day on a Sunday and a Wednesday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) in select theaters nationwide. The movies also include commentary from TCM hosts Robert Osbourne or Ben Mankiewicz.
First up on January 17 is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid -- the 1969 bank robber bro film starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The Ten Commandments and The King and I, both released sixty years ago in 1956, will screen in March and August respectively. The 30-year-old film Ferris Bueller's Day Off will show in May. Moviegoers can celebrate 45 years of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory in June and 55 years of Breakfast At Tiffany's in November.
