Beyonce video controversy ends as quickly as it began

Documentary filmmaker Chris Black hit Twitter wondering why the video borrowed clips from 'The B.E.A.T." a 2012 documentary he filmed with director Abteen Bagheri .

Melina would Melina Matsoukas, the video director for "Formation." And Beyonce's team was fairly quick to respond that the rights to the footage were acquired fairly.

Matsoukas later tweeted credit to Bagheri, who thanked her for the acknowledgement.

Neither Black nor Bagheri seemed to be angling for financial compensation at this point, but both had issues with the way things work in the industry.

"Anyone who works in the industry knows that putting out a work is a miracle," Bagheri said in an email to the Washington Post . "There needs to be a unity amongst directors.  We need to preserve the sanctity of the craft and champion individual voices.  Our work isn't just b-roll for someone else.  It just shouldn't be considered, whether or not it's legal.  It's a bad precedent to set."
