Vince Sims, a reporter at CBS46 since 2014, has decided to leave to become a weekend anchor at NBC 5 (KXAS-TV) in Dallas.
His final day at CBS46, which has more turnover than the other three TV news operations, is July 16. He goes to the NBC owned-and-operated Dallas station at the end of the month.
He has done some fill-in anchor work at CBS46 (WGCL-TV) but never received a full-time anchor gig.
Via Facebook Messenger, Sims explained why he decided to take the new job: “Timing, opportunity, and family. My contract here was up for renewal and they offered me a new contract. But this offer came my way that offered me advancement in a larger market and moves me closer to family.”
Sims, an Arkansas native, previously worked as a reporter and anchor at stations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh.
"We hate to lose him but it is an exceptional opportunity for one of the really good people in TV news," said CBS46 news director Steve Doerr.
"He is one of the best reporters/anchors there and one of the nicest people I've worked with in this business," said former CBS46 producer Jason Becknell.
