TLC gives 'Family by the Ton' a second season

TLC has given its latest obesity-themed series "Family by the Ton" a second season, according to the Georgia Film & TV Office.

The show aired six episodes earlier this year featuring a trio of morbidly obese metro Atlanta-based family members. Naomi Anderson, Chitoka Light and Drew Stewart are cousins who weighed a combined ton at the start of the series but have since had surgery and taken major steps to lose weight.

ExploreThe series was created by Atlanta-based Crazy Legs Productions, which also produces ID series such as "Dead Silent" and "Your Worst Nightmare."

Atlanta bariatric surgeon Charles Proctor Jr. has worked with the family to shed the pounds.
