The latest incarnation of the Regular Guys is over after just four months on sports talk 106.3/1230 The Fan 2.

Larry Wachs tried to resurrect the concept with all new people in July and the support of Fan owner David Dickey. Wachs brought in former NFL player and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" part-time cast member Bob Whitfield as his primary No. 2 guy.

But Dickey took Whitfield off after just two months, promising to bring Whitfield back with a solo show down the road. The show had aired from 2 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Dickey wrote to me this morning that "we are going to focus on an all-sports line up. Larry did a great job for us, both on air and working with our sales department. But an all-sports line up is a natural extension of The Fan."

Wachs, in a text, said "it wasn't a good fit. Everyone tried their best to get some traction on the limited signal but ultimately we agreed it wasn't working out."

The Regular Guys was Wachs' baby ror two decades, including stints at a Los Angeles station, its heyday at 96rock, a brief foray on 640/WGST and several years on Rock 100.5. His original co-host Eric Von Haessler now hosts his own show on News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. weekdays.
