In news that hardly qualifies as news given its inevitability, Netflix has rewarded its hit series "Stranger Things" a third season.

The only downside of having a hit series where the stars are adolescents on the cusp of being teenagers: the kids could potentially grow up very fast, possibly changing the show's charm and dynamics. The show is shot in metro Atlanta but set in a small fictional Indiana town in the mid-1980s.

How popular is "Stranger Things"? It's clearly a zeitgeist talker but Netflix doesn't release viewership numbers. Nielsen, in an estimate, said more than 15.8 million Americans sampled the first episode in the first three days of release in October. That stat alone would place it among the top TV shows in America.
