Lyndsey Marie, mid-day host at Rock 100.5 for the past three years, has moved to Chicago to be the new mid-day host at 97.9/The Loop, a classic rock station there.

Atlanta-based Cumulus owns Rock 100.5 and operates the Loop, which has been around for 30-plus years and ran as a hot talk format for a time in the 1990s.

Marie started this week. She showed off photos of Chicago and her new apartment on her Instagram.

But for now, she will stay on as a mid-day host at Rock 100.5, just 700 miles away in "voice-tracking" mode. She came to Atlanta in 2011, replacing Erin Watson.

As a big Detroit Redwings fan, I'm sure she's thrilled to be in a city which has the NHL. I'm told she'll come back to Atlanta every so often to visit her mom and do the show from here. Brandy, the Regular Guys producer, has taken over Lyndsey's weekly Thursday night appearance at the Oasis strip club off Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

In other Rock 100.5 news, Jonathan Pinch today was named the station's general manager. Pinch had been Cumulus' co-operating officer. The station over the years has struggled to find its voice, changing its music mix every few months and failing to gain ratings traction against the two other major rock stations in town, 97.1/The River and Radio 105.7. (It now also has to deal with alternative rock X107.1)

What got you into radio?

Well, I'm an actress reject. I used to be big into musical theatre. I could act, I could sing, I just couldn't flipping dance. So broadway wasn't in my cards. I still was a total attention hog, so at 18 I walked into my first radio station, WARO in Fort Myers, FL. Pitched a really good interview, pretended I knew what I was doing, and started on-air that night.

What was/is your all time favorite toy?

Ummm...I currently have about 18 Star Wars toys in my living room. Go ahead and judge me.

Do you have any cool talents/skills?

Live band karaoke. Period. I can do a hell of a "Holy Diver" on the mic.

Her situation is similar to that of Lance Houston on Clear Channel (er... IHeartMedia)-owned 94.9/The Bull. He used to live here but last year became program director at a station in Baltimore and continues to voicetrack his Bull afternoon show from out of town. I'm certain 99% of the listeners have no idea he's not in based in Atlanta.
