Jesse Kage was named new afternoon jock at Rock 100.5. The man fits the role like a glove based on his photo: bald head, long beard, tats up and down his arms.

Kage replaces Jay Philpott, who left after two years for a radio job in his hometown of Minneapolis.

He will also take over assistant programming duties under Greg Ausham, program director. He starts Tuesday, Sept. 5 right after Labor Day. He worked for seven years at 98Rock in Tampa (WXTB-FM) as an afternoon drive jock before doing mornings at a sports talk station.

“This is a huge step for WNNX," Ausham said in a press release. "We searched for the right replacement for the Rock 100.5’s afternoon show and Jesse showed us the personality and enthusiasm that we needed to keep our momentum going.”

Kage said in the same press release: "I'm incredibly jacked to get the opportunity to be at Rock 100.5! Atlanta has always been one of my favorite cities to visit and I'm looking forward to living and working with the amazingly talented people already in place."
