Given the entire concept of minimizing large gatherings, it’s not a surprise that TV and film production in Georgia will soon grind to a temporary halt.

How long the break will be depends wholly on how quickly and deadly the COVID-19 virus spreads.

Many films and TV shows involve hundreds of people in often tight studio spaces.

Netflix Friday announced it was stopping all production nationwide and in Canada for at least two weeks. In Georgia, that includes "Stranger Things" the Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson/Gal Gado/Ryan Reynolds film "Red Notice" and the reality series "Prank Encounters."

Disney, which is shooting  “Architect” for its streaming service in Georgia, made a similar announcement.

Other studios are certain to follow suit i coming days.

Currently, the Georgia film office tallies 47 active TV and film productions in the state including different films starring Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and John Cena. It's a diverse blend of scripted (the CW's "Legacies," Fox's "The Resident," CBS's "MacGyver") and unscripted shows (VH1's "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta," Oxygen's "Injustice with Nancy Grace," Animal Planet's "The Aquarium")

The slate, which includes several pilots such as a potential Fox “Goonies” reboot, is pretty busy considering the typical number is closer to 40.
