Six months after Emperor Searcy lost his job at Hot 107.9, he has begun working part-time at rival V-103.
He's not the first to move from Hot to V-103. Mid-day host Ramona DeBreaux and morning host Ryan Cameron are both former Hot denizens.
DeBreaux also started at V-103 part time before landing a full-time job. Cameron, morning host at V-103 the past three years, moved from Hot mornings to V-103 afternoons more than a decade ago.
Searcy worked at Hot for virtually its entire life span from its launch more than 20 years ago, mostly in the afternoons. But he was let go last July in a budget-cutting move.
For V-103, he will be on from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 3 to 6 p.m. Sundays. He will also fill in for the weekday jocks when they go on vacation. "I"m excited," he said. "It's a new start."
Program director Reggie Rouse said the hire was a no brainer: "He's a veteran in the market. He knows what he's doing."
He also has more time now to produce music again and do more real estate investing.
His non-compete clause was six months so he was only eligible to go back on the FM airwaves in Atlanta this month. He was at the Bonner Bros. show over the weekend:
