Atlanta-based CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta  has sold a medical drama to ABC, according to Deadline.com.

Working with "Larry King Live" executive producer Wendy Walker, Gupta will create a medical drama based in part on both their lives at a news cable network.

This does not guarantee we'll ever see it on screen or even go to pilot. But it's a step forward.

This is Gupta's second effort into fictional TV drama. Atlanta-based TNT aired a short-lived medical drama called "Monday Mornings" in 2013 that was based on Gupta's novel of the same name.

Josh Berman, who created "Drop Dead Diva" shot in Peachtree City from 2009 to 2014 and is currently shooting VH1's "Daytime Divas" in metro Atlanta, is one of the executive producers as well. Sharon Lee Watson ("Criminal Minds") is the writer.

Deadline.com said Walker's relationship with criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos inspired the series:

The untitled project centers on a team of physicians, working for a cable news operation, who travel the United States gaining access to our countries hot spots—medical mysteries, outbreaks, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters.
