R&B star and actress Brandy Norwood is keeping her comedy toes in Atlanta, following a stint on the now-retired "The Game" with a starring role in a new locally based sitcom called "Zoe Ever After."

The multi-camera comedy has started production and is scheduled to begin airing in early 2016.

Brandy plays Zoe Moon, a newly single mom stepping out of the shadow of her famous boxer ex-husband Gemini Moo, played by Dorian Missick. Zoe will juggle motherhood, dating, her relationship with her ex and a career starting a cosmetics line.

BET also shoots Gabrielle Union-led "Being Mary Jane" and gospel competition show "Sunday Best" here. Past shows that have been shot here include "Let's Stay Together," "Reed Between the Lines" and, of course, "The Game."

Brandy played Chardonnay Pitts on "The Game" for the final five seasons. That show, BET's most successful series to date, aired its series finale just a few weeks ago.

"I was very blessed to come into such a successful show," said Brandy on the set last year while BET was finishing up "The Game." "They had their own fan base. I hadn't done a lot of acting at the time. It's a great cast, the type of cast that makes you look good. It was fun playing such a ratchet character!"

Debra Martin Chase, who worked with Brandy on "Cinderella" nearly two decades ago, is a producer for "Zoe Ever After." Atlantan Scooter Braun, who is Justin Bieber's producer, is also involved.
