Netflix, of course, brings out big-name star power this Friday: Ricky Gervais stars as a (shocking!) sardonic widower in "After Life" while Alfre Woodard tries to get her groove back in "Juanita."

On PBS, Josh Groban charms the ladies while CBS fetes the late great Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. And fine actor Idrid Elba will stretch his comedic chops on "Saturday Night Live" Sunday.

And “Serial” fans will eat up HBO’s “The Case Against Adnan Sayed.”

MONDAY

"Juanita" 3:01. a.m. Netflix   Alfre Woodard stars in this adaptation of a Sheila Williams book about a woman who finds new purpose and hope on a trip to Montana.

"Fresh Off the Boat" 8 p.m. ABC — Eddie leaves home after his mom tells him he's too immature to go on a student exchange trip to Taiwan.

"Shameless" 9 p.m. Sunday Showtime (ninth season finale) — The Gallaghers decide what to do with a bedridden Frank.
