News/talk AM 920 The Answer is off today in Atlanta. The transmitter has broken, a source told me. The website is down as well.

Mike Moran, vice president of operations, said power went down. Georgia Power is working on it. He hopes to have the station back on air by noon.UPDATE: The station returned at 11:42 a.m.

The station airs conservative  talk show hosts such as William Bennett, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, Dennis Prager and Mike Gallagher.

Given the interest in politics today, the day after Election Day, the timing is not exactly auspicious.

The station rebranded last year as The Answer. It's a syndicated brand heard in about 20 markets.

In recent Nielsen Audio ratings, the station generates a 0.2 or 0.3 rating.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
