Since I started attending Atlanta Hawks games when I moved here almost five years ago, I was always as intrigued with whatever was going on between the plays as the game itself.

In 2012 I wrote a story about SkyHawk and his teammates on the SkySquad (who still perform at most games).

Earlier this year, I spent some time with Sir Foster , the Hawks' lovable organist who has now built a national reputation as being one of the best in the biz.

But I was still curious about how the planning, the producing, the executing of so many pieces of entertainment flowed so fluidly at every Philips Arena home game.

Last Friday, I got to experience the exhilaration and exhaustion that comes with those tasks, as members of the Hawks’ production team and fan engagement specialists allowed me to tag along, listen in on a headset, sit in the control room (that’s my new friend Rob Calia calling the shots in the video above) and experience bits and pieces of what it takes to make it all look so easy.

The Hawks have one more chance tonight to make it back to Philips Arena for another home game during these playoffs.

I know the behind-the-scenes crew is aching for it to happen.

Here’s a look at a typical game day in Hawks Land.
