When The Isley Brothers perform Saturday at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, they’ll receive more than cheers from the crowd.
Brothers Ronald and Ernie Isley will be granted a proclamation by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners to declare July 14 as The Isley Brothers Day.
The group’s mother, Sallye, was raised in Georgia, but The Isley Brothers were reared and founded in Cincinnati.
The proclamation is being bestowed to honor the group’s six-plus decades in the music industry, including a 2014 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, their 1992 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a string of hits from the ‘50s to the ‘00s, including This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You), “It’s Your Thing,” “That Lady” and their 2001 Top 10 R&B hit with R. Kelly and Chante Moore, “Contagious.”
