Following the news of the shooting death of California rapper Nipsey Hussle, celebrities including Rihanna, 2 Chainz, Big Boi and LeBron James took to social media to share their shock, prayers and condolences.
Born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, the rapper was 33 and experiencing the success of his Grammy-nominated debut album, “Victory Lap.”
Despite his West Coast roots, Nipsey Hussle was a frequent presence in Atlanta. He played a breakthrough set at the A3C Festival in 2012, hit The Loft at Center Stage in 2014 and performed a pair of sold-out concerts at Buckhead Theatre in June. Hussle would also regularly appear at area malls, including a stop at Greenbriar Mall last summer before his Buckhead Theatre shows.
This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this! Dear God may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones! 💔🙏🏿

RIP Nipsey. I just spent Thursday with him filming a video for a beautiful new song we created with Khaled. We filmed in Inglewood, close to where he grew up. He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community. Utterly stunned that he's gone so soon.
