We feel the world is f***** up that people have to hide and we're asked to comment on someone’s sexuality. We love all people, gay or straight and we apologize if we offended anyone.”]
Migos might have the No. 1 album in the country – their "Culture" album sold more than 131,000 copies its first week and 116 million paid streams – but the support they've received from their Atlanta rap peers might soon waver.
In a colorful, detailed Rolling Stone profile of the trio who received a huge profile boost from Donald Glover at the Golden Globes , the "Bad and Boujee" rappers question iLoveMakonnen's recent decision to announce he is gay.
When Rolling Stone reporter Jonah Weiner mentions that iLoveMakonnen received support online after coming out, Migos’ Quavo, Takeoff and Offset balk at how to respond.
"They supported him?" Quavo asks, raising an eyebrow. "That's because the world is f***** up," says Offset. "This world is not right," Takeoff says. "We ain't saying it's nothing wrong with the gays," says Quavo. But he suggests that Makonnen's sexuality undermines his credibility, given the fact that "he first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that."
He frowns. "That's wack, bro."
Earlier in the story, Weiner details that during this visit, the Atlanta Falcons/Green Bay Packers NFC Championship game is playing on TVs in the studio.
Offset isn’t impressed when he sees on his phone who played the halftime show.
"Weak-ass ... Jeezy and Ludacris played the game," says Offset, scowling at his phone. Quavo looks over. "They had them do the halftime show?" he asks. Offset nods. "Why they did that?" Quavo cries out. "Shoulda had us doing 'Bad and Boujee'! We need to do that song at the Super Bowl!"
