Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt 'choking the life out of country music,' says Aaron Lewis

Don’t expect to see Aaron Lewis at a Luke Bryan concert any time soon.

The guy behind such hall of fame-worthy music as “It’s Been Awhile” and “So Far Away” with Staind releases his second country album this week – and he isn’t very happy in the direction the genre is headed.

At a recent concert in Colorado, Lewis went on a rant about Cedartown native Sam Hunt (“Oh, I know he’s pretty to look at”), Leesburg’s Bryan (although “he surprises me every once in a while”), Glennville’s Cole Swindell and “every other m*********** that is just choking the life out of country music.”

According to Rolling Stone , Lewis was “thanking” the artists for inspiring his new song, “That Ain’t Country,” which includes the lyrics, "Whatever happened to the country songs / full of truth and consequences, all the things gone wrong…someone came and changed it up, made it all a lie."

This isn’t the first time Bryan has been publicly dismissed by a fellow musician – in 2013, Atlanta’s Zac Brown called Bryan’s decidedly un-country “That’s My Kind of Night” “the worst song I’ve ever heard.”

The Georgia boys made nice at the CMA Awards later that year.
