How about spending the New Year with Uncle Gregg?

The Southern rock icon will return to Atlanta Symphony Hall for a pair of year-ending shows on Dec. 30-31 (he played the venue last NYE as well) with his ace solo band.

Tickets for the concerts are on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 14 for $35.50-$149.50.  Tickets can be purchased at the Woodruff Arts Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com and by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Georgia mainstay Allman will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame this fall as a solo performer (he already received the honor as a member of the Allman Brothers Band).

Earlier this month he released  "Gregg Allman Live: Back to Macon, GA," a CD/DVD – Allman's first DVD as a solo artist – that captured him and his eight-piece solo band at a Jan. 14, 2014 performance at the Grand Opera House, the 1,000-seat theater in Macon built in 1884.
