Creed frontman Scott Stapp all-but-confirmed his role as the new frontman of Stone Temple Pilots in an interview with Atlanta's Rock 100.5 morning show on Monday.
Stapp, who is on the second leg of his solo tour, "Proof of Life,' told Jason Bailey on the Bailey and Southside show that he could "neither confirm nor deny" t hat he would replace the deceased Scott Weiland in STP.
In a 13-minute interview (which you can hear below), Stapp, who is on hiatus with Creed, told Bailey, “I’m excited to be back out on the road also been working on a new album with a new group of guys. Guys from some pretty well-known rock bands that you guys will know. I can’t really share the details about it but there’s a lot of good things going on that I can’t tell you till later in June when we’ll be making the announcement…This other band I’m jamming with is its own band with its own band name.”
After Bailey pressed Stapp for more details, the rocker dropped another hint by stating, “I will tell you this, there is a six-degree separation connection between this new project and the band you mentioned.”
When Bailey noted that Stapp is using the tour bus on which Weiland died, Stapp responded, “Dude you are just on point, aren’t you?”
In March, Bailey reported the news that Axl Rose was spotted in an Atlanta rehearsal space with AC/DC. A few weeks later, it was confirmed that Rose was indeed joining the Australian rockers for the remainder of their "Rock or Bust" tour.
