The musical based on the life of the inimitable Cher , called, of course, "The Cher Show," will receive a pre-Broadway world premiere in Chicago next summer.

The bio-musical will begin previews at the Oriental Theatre on June 12 and play through July 15. The show opens on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre in fall 2018.

“My life as a musical on Broadway. It seems crazy, exciting and bizarre - but that's probably how my life seems to most people,” Cher said in a statement.

“The Cher Show” offers a book from Rick Elice (“Jersey Boys”), direction by Jason Moore (“Avenue Q”), choreography by Christopher Gattelli (“Newsies”) and orchestrations and musical supervision by Daryl Waters (“Memphis”).

The production will trace Cher's life (or, as she might be known, Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman) as a teen phenom, a TV star, an Oscar-winning actress, a music icon and a "wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend."

Casting news will be announced soon (www.TheCherShowBroadway.com). Group tickets for the Chicago run are on sale now; individual tickets will be available at a later date via www.BroadwayInChicago.com.
