Since 2009, Bruce Springsteen has been quietly writing his autobiography and on Sept. 27, the rest of the world will be privy to his life story.
“Born to Run,” which will be published by Simon & Schuster, documents Springsteen’s youth in Freehold, N.J., his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park and the stories behind the rise of the E Street Band. Springsteen will also share why the song “Born to Run” reveals more than fans might realize.
Springsteen began writing the book shortly after the band’s Super Bowl performance seven years ago.
“Writing about yourself is a funny business,” Springsteen notes in the book. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
On Feb. 18, Springsteen and the E Street Band will play a sold-out show at Philips Arena in support of "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection," the box set released in December that celebrates his seminal 1980 album, "The River."
