The 39th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival will take root in its usual spot in Piedmont Park during Memorial Day Weekend.
While the full lineup won’t be announced until April 5, we can share the names of a trio of performers fans will hear at the free event.
Jazz legend Benny Golson, the Philadelphia-bred tenor saxophonist known for writing music for TV shows including "M*A*S*H" and "The Partridge Family," will be on site.
Golson, 87, has crossed paths with Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald and Quincy Jones throughout an illustrious career that has spawned more than 30 albums.
Also on board is pianist-singer Eliane Elias, who has been playing since childhood and performing since her teens. Elias is known for merging her Brazilian roots with a sensuous voice. She's released 25 albums and this year nabbed a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album for "Made in Brazil."
In 2012, Jamison Ross won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition for his drumming prowess and followed the crowning by touring and recording with artists such as Dr. John and Christian McBride. Last month, he was nominated for a Grammy for his debut, "Jamison," in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category.
