Otis Redding would have turned 75 on Friday and his family and foundation are making sure the Georgia native receives a worthy celebration.

Andra Day, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, The Reddings (featuring Mark Lockett and Otis' sons Dexter and Otis III), Chuck Leavell, Steve Cropper (with whom Redding wrote "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay"), Eddie Floyd, William Bell and others will perform at "An Evening of Respect" at Macon City Auditorium on Sunday.

Day, who performed in Atlanta in March , will be in town Saturday for the One Musicfest .

Tickets for the Redding celebration are $60 for general admission and $150 for table seating. A VIP ticket for $249 includes access to an after party.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Otis Redding Foundation and the Dream Academy--a state-wide arts-integrated public charter school designed to educate and empower students to reach their full potential through the blending of music, the arts, and academics. The Dream Academy's charter petition was unanimously approved last week by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia and is proposed to open as a K-6 school in August 2017, and expand by a grade level each year until it reaches grade 12.

Redding's short-but-influential career is the topic of a special display at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
