Cam Newton's Beats by Dre headphones, a line that starts at around $170 and heads north, may turn out to be considerably more expensive if a new NFL policy mandating which headphones players can wear while in uniform results in a fine.

The Westlake High School standout turned Auburn University star turned Carolina Panthers quarterback was spotted in the non-sanctioned headphones on the sidelines on Sunday. (Click here to see a gallery of Cam returning to his Atlanta alma mater for a jersey retirement ceremony!)

Because of a partnership deal inked with the NFL and Bose, players can face fines if they wear non-Bose headphones. "Players are allowed to 'wear headphones with competing logos off the bus, into the stadium and on the field for warmups before they get into uniform," ESPN reports.

Although San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick recently got tagged with a $10,000 fine for showing up in Beats, Newton was wearing them on Sunday.
