Sarah Michelle Gellar and others confuse George Michael and Boy George

George Michael has died at 53. Boy George is still alive. They are not the same person.

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and others have gotten the two British pop stars confused in the hours since Michael's sudden death was announced.

She's since said she heard the wrong George had passed away:

She wasn't the only grieving fan to get confused for a minute.

Boy George, front man of Culture Club, penned some thoughts about his friend Michael, half of Wham! before going solo:

"I am thinking of @ GeorgeMichael 's family, friends and fans right now. He was so loved and I hope he knew it because the sadness today is beyond words. Devastating. What a beautiful voice he had and his music will live on as a testament to his talent. I can't believe he is gone. I hope the Buddha will hold him in his arms."
