Think of it as Movies with Thousands of Your Closest Friends: The Sequel.

One of Piedmont Park's most popular hits, the annual summertime screening of classic and popular movies in the great outdoors, returns next week after a five year hiatus. This year's comeback will be brief -- just two successive Thursday nights in August -- and features a different name and location at the park.

What once was "Screen on the Green" now will be known as "Summer Under the Stars: Movies in Piedmont Park." Put on by the Piedmont Park Conservancy in partnership with Turner Classic Movies, the screenings now will be held on the gracious Promenade that overlooks the Legacy Fountain.

(In 2010, altercations disrupted at least one screening and additional security was added. Funding issues nearly put the kibosh on the 2011 season, and in 2012, Screen on the Green was canceled).

But now, talk about "play it again!" The return of movies begins with "Casablanca" next Thursday, Aug. 18. Then, just in time to give you the end-of-summer swimming heebie jeebies, they'll be showing "Jaws" on Aug. 25.

Doors open each night at 6 p.m., with the screenings starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available now for $5 at www.tcm.com/park while supplies last (all proceeds benefit the Piedmont Park Conservancy). There'll be food trucks and vendors on site; attendees can bring picnics, but items not allowed include glass containers, alcoholic beverages, umbrellas and grills. Additional information can be found at www.tcm.com/park.
