"A lot of different names are being thrown around to take Michael Strahan's place with Kelly," Ellen DeGeneres asked him during his recent visit to her talk show. "Is that something that you would do if they offered that to you?"

"It’s the first I’ve heard of it," Alec demurred.

"No, it’s not!" Ellen protested.

"I used to guest on that show with her, guest host with her. My hair is a different color now. They'd have to change the set to match my hair," he quipped. Then he hinted that maybe he had been approached and might sort of consider the idea.

"I have always wanted to do a show where you can stay home," he said. "When you make movies, you might as well take a dart and throw it at the map of the world. You don’t know where you’re going to go, where you’re going to be. Being able to stay home with my children is what I’d prefer."

Or maybe he could do the weather, Alec mused.

"Do you know about weather?" Ellen asked.

"Yeah, you just open the window and go, hey, it’s a beautiful day!" he said.
