Kid Rock wants to be a U.S. Senator - no joke.

The country rocker has launched a web site and followed with a tweet saying that yes, it's legit. So far the web site features a photo of him in a fancy office with a taxidermied deer and a link to buy merch.

Rock's real name is Robert James Ritchie, as AJC court reporter Bill Rankin noted when reporting on the entertainer's 2007 arrest at a metro Atlanta Waffle House and a 2010 civil suit emanating from the fracas. Rock/Ritchie was arrested after the scuffle and sentenced to 12 months probation and anger management counseling, Rankin reported at the time .
