Comedian Katt Williams is out of jail and out of town following a Monday arrest on a battery charge. TMZ cameras caught up with him in Los Angeles, where he said a Gainesville store clerk used a racial slur, prompting his reaction. "Katt Williams did what Katt Williams had to do," he said.

A store employee contacted by the AJC said they weren't allowed to comment.
Williams was in L.A. to appear in court on (obviously) unrelated weapons charges, TMZ notes.
Meanwhile back in Georgia, attorney Loletha Hale on Tuesday accused Williams and about 15 members of his entourage and security team of physically attacking and stealing cellphones from five women visiting Atlanta for the weekend. She also took aim at Atlanta police, claiming they have failed to adequately investigate the incident.
AJC breaking news reported covered Hale's press conference. See full coverage here.
