Jennifer Aniston has been "awarded" the Actress Most in Need Of A New Agent by the Alliance of Women Film Journalists after she starred in two pretty bad movies that happened to film in Atlanta: "Mother's Day" and "Office Christmas Party."
She played a divorced mom who regards Twitter like it's an impenetrably complex digital invention in "Mother's Day," which came out this spring.
"If you love your mother, do not make her see this movie," Entertainment Weekly writes in its review, giving the movie a D for its "offensive comments, choppy dialogue, lifeless jokes" and other sins.
Deadline hates it a little bit less, but laments that the star-studded cast is "wasted on a low-level, by-the-numbers shtickcom script … that has no spark, wit or real drama and surprisingly no laughs at all."
Variety hates it a lot more: "Atrociously written, begrudgingly acted, haphazardly assembled and never more backward than when it thinks it's being progressive."
And Time just zings: "Hate your mom? Take her to see Mother's Day."
She's now appearing in "Office Christmas Party," also starring Vanessa Bayer, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Rob Corddry, Abbey Lee, Kate McKinnon, TJ Miller, Olivia Munn, Randall Park, Sam Richardson and Courtney B. Vance.
Directed by Josh Gordonand Will Speck, "Office Christmas Party" is about an office Christmas party.
The studio didn't do a lot of advance press for this one (can't imagine why) so we've just seen the trailer. There’s a reindeer drinking from a toilet, some drunk lady passed out cheeks down on a copier machine and a guy taking a bathroom break in an outdoor planter.
