With the TLC show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" axed amid allegations that the show's matriarch has been keeping time with a convicted child molester, members of the middle Georgia clan have taken to squabbling with each other about the situation online.
"I have not seen that person in 10 years and don’t want to see that person.”
For a minute it looked like Lee Thompson, the brother of June's former beau and Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's dad Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, was going to stay out of it. That didn't last.
In a series of posts on his public Facebook page, Thompson, known as "Uncle Poodle" on the show, accused his brother's former partner of cheating on Sugar Bear with the ex-con.
"Then you tell me if I step foot on your property you'd call the police on me for trespassing after I told my brother EVERYTHING with photographic evidence ...It's not anyone else but you who (bleeped) up, then lied and had your 14-year-old lie as well. And now you can't get out of that hole you dug, so don't blame me for YOUR problems."
June's eldest daughter, 20-year-old Anna Marie Cardwell, told People magazine that registered sex offender Mark McDaniel "would try and touch me and all that stuff" when she was 8. He was June's boyfriend at the time. Anna said she isn't sure what to believe but told People "I would feel hurt" if the rumors are true.
One of June's other daughters, 14-year-old Lauryn, known as "Pumpkin" on the show, has defended her mom in an all-caps Instagram post, among other public pronouncements:
"THIS HERE IS UNCLE POODLE AND HIS MAN. THEY ARE UPSET BC THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED AND THEY NO LONGER HAVE MONEY. THEY HAVE BEEN SELLING FALSE STORIES AND MAKING MONEY. HE TOLD ME EARLIER TODAY THAT HE HOPED MY MOM GOT CANCER AND DIED OF A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH. GET THIS HE IS 30 YEARS OLD TELLING A 14 YEAR OLD THIS. EVERY STORY THATS OUT RIGHT NOW HE HAS PUT OUT AND ITS ALL FALSE. HE JUST THINKS IT ALL FUN AND GAMES SELLING FAMILY OUT BUT KARMA IS A BITCH TRUST ME I KNOW HER PERSONALLY. SO IMMA SIT BACK AND LAUGH BC WHEN THE TRUTH COMES OUT YOUR (bleeped)."
Responded Poodle (who is only Alana's uncle; Sugar Bear is Alana's dad but June's other daughters have different fathers):
"I guess the truth hurts I mean y'all two just tell the truth and stop lying but guess that's what you two are good for."
June accused Poodle of selling information to TMZ in an angry message that he posted on his Facebook page: "It's Uncle Poodle selling all these stories cause his gravy train has ran out."
She also again denied the allegations.
"My kids are my #1 priority," she said. "This is my past ... the truth will all come out."
It seems clear that someone close to June took the photos that TMZ ran. The images include one of June and McDaniel in a hotel room, and one of them touring a home. But Poodle says it wasn't him.
On Tuesday morning, he posted a new message saying he is moving on. He'd removed all the back-and-forth and replaced it with this:
