"Public school staff may not endorse any religion when acting in their official capacities and during school activities,"  Johnson County (Ky.) Schools Superintendent Thomas Salyer told the Lexington Herald-Leader. 

That meant the passage where Linus recites Scripture had to go, spurring local protests and national attention.

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly called the decision "madness."
