Actor Chris Pratt, who has filmed "Passengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2" in Atlanta, and his wife, actress Anna Faris, are heading in opposite directions, he announced in a Sunday night Facebook post.
"Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating," he wrote. "We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."
Pratt will presumably be back for "Guardians 3," which director James Gunn has announced he'll direct. Pratt also will be in Atlanta as part of the huge "Avengers" project; "Avengers: Infinity War" just wrapped and the next movie films here next.
Author and commentator Eric Schiffer, CEO of ReputationManagementConsultants.com , praised the couple's candor in a difficult time.
“The once totally unstoppable power couple made the choice to be agonizingly vulnerable and emotionally raw and give fans a path to connect at a core human level," he said. "Pratt and Faris got in front of the media to protect against their greatest fear of a merciless brand savaging. Sharing the split before going under fire from vicious rumors protects their images as good parents who care about their son and not their own million dollar Hollywood hides. Because Pratt and Faris were the ultimate tinsel town couple, their life choice should cause them to experience a cascade of compassion and sensitivity and not walk through hell in gasoline suits.”
