Bomb squad investigates suspicious package on Marietta Square

A suspicious package left near the Marietta Square summoned authorities including a bomb-sniffing robot early Thursday afternoon, and temporarily closed the area to traffic.

"Church Street is closed between Lemon Street and Cole Street in reference to police activity. Please avoid the area," is what the Marietta Police Department said officially. Traffic was barred from the area but a friend who is a business owner on the Square sent these photos:

Authorities just sent a follow-up message saying the situation has been resolve.
