Think you can handle eating one chip?

Doesn’t seem so hard, right? But what if that chip was covered in dust made with the hottest pepper in the world?

That's what chip company Paqui is challenging people to do with its One Chip Challenge. For $6.99, you could buy one chip made with Carolina Reaper peppers, the hottest chip in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Carolina Reapers have a rating of 1.5 million Scoville units -- compare that to jalapeno peppers, which rank at about 5,000 on the Scoville scale.

Videos of people “enjoying” the chip have been circulating on social media with the #OneChipChallenge hashtag.

Want to try the challenge for yourself? The chip sold out in less than a week on the official website. Now, the only way to get a hold of one of the coveted coffin-shaped boxes and chips is to win one by entering the World's Hottest Sweeps. Specially marked bags of Paqui Haunted Ghost Pepper and Fiery Chile Limón chips with hidden codes for fans to enter online will be available at participating retailers, including Kroger, across the U.S. and Canada. Winners will receive confirmation immediately after playing.

There is a 1 in 10 chance of winning one for free.

We took the plunge and tried it for ourselves. Spoiler alert: We lived to tell the tale, but it wasn’t pretty -- watch the video above to see how we fared.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
