Raise your glass to one of Atlanta's biggest craft brew success stories.
Brewers Association -- the not-for-profit trade group representing small and independent craft brewers in the U.S. -- released its list of top 50 craft and overall brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume.
Atlanta's SweetWater Brewing Company, which opened 20 years ago , made the cut at #15.
SweetWater has its eyes on even more growth, telling the AJC in 2015 that it's scouting sites for a brewery in the western United States . SweetWater also said it is in the early planning stages for a third brewery in the central part of the nation.
Coming in at #2 on the Brewers Association list? Boston Beer, the brewery behind Sam Adams, which was on the winning end of a Super Bowl bet with SweetWater, forcing SweetWater to change the name of its signature beer to 420 Ale Patriots Extra Pale Ale after the Atlanta Falcons lost to the New England Patriots.
