There’s lots of food and fun happening around town this holiday weekend. Add one or all five of the following events to your calendar and be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time. Thank goodness it’s Friday, and for a good number of people, it will be no-work Monday.
Take a walk: Stroll and shop at the Peachtree Road Farmer's Market with Chef Zeb of Watershed to find ingredients for the night's market special. The morning walk kicks off at 9:15 a.m. Participants will meet by the Dancing Goat booth. To save your spot, RSVP here.
Eat, drink and dance: Fancy footwork. Welcome reception. Cheese and bourbon pairings. Welcome to the special Cheese, Bourbon and Jazz class, taking place from 3-5 p.m. Saturday Sept. 5 at The Cockentrice . Participants can expect a two-hour, jazz-infused class, which will feature a welcome cocktail and 12 cheese and bourbon pairings. Attendees will also leave with a CD of the jazz music featured throughout the class, a pairing guide and a greater understanding of how food and music influence each other. Pig out this Sunday: What do you do with green plaza space between two restaurants in Alpharetta? If you're Oak Steakhouse and Colletta , you have a lowcountry boil and pig roast, of course! The duo will pair up to host the aforementioned event from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. Guests will also be able to enjoy food specials from chefs Mike Perez and Eric Zizka along with live entertainment, $5 beer and wine and a la carte sweet treats. Tickets, which are $40 for adults and $20 for kids plus applicable fees, may be purchased here. Free valet parking available.
Cinco de Setiembre: So, seriously, this restaurant, HOLA! Taqueria in Roswell, decided to create a new holiday to celebrate their first anniversary. Because they love to party with patrons, the festivities will last from Sept. 4 through Sept. 6. Each evening, guests can enjoy live music and complimentary tasting-size house-made guacamole. On Saturday, bartenders will create an exclusive Birthday Cake Shot, which guests can pair with birthday cake, compliments of the restaurant. Kids can get in on the fun too since there will be a Mexican-themed bounce house set up just for them. Lastly, if you love tacos, enter to win the HOLA! Tacos for a Year prize by entering the contest this weekend.
A taste of summer: To celebrate Labor Day weekend, the Buckhead Shake Shack will serve up its elusive Shack Corn Dog, which features a Vienna all-beef hot dog dipped in Shack-made corn batter, cooked golden brown and served with Rick's Picks sweet corn relish. For dessert, try their Peach Pie Oh My Concrete, a blend of vanilla frozen custard blended and H&F peach pie. Consider these your tasty treats before summer says so long.
