Winter farmers market. Weekend wine flights. National Cassoulet Day. This weekend, there’s lots of fun, food events happening around town. Add one or all five events to your calendar and be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time. Cheers to the weekend!

Winter farmers market: Freedom Farmers' Market at The Carter Center will kick off it's winter market 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. The winter market will host a myriad of vendors including Riverview Farms, Hickory Hill Farm, Proof Bake Shop, Star Provisions and much more, offering everything from meats and cheeses to produce and pantry staples.

National Cassoulet Day: From Jan. 9 – 15, Gypsy Kitchen will simmer a Catalan-style chorizo and rabbit cassoulet with a garlic migas topping. The cassoulet will be offered at $40 for two, making it couple-perfect. Additionally, Revival's executive sous chef Rémi Granger will channel his Blois, France roots with his southern cassoulet with confit duck legs and lamb shank finished in hot coals for $22.

Wine flights: What could be better than trying a new glass of wine? How about three? Beginning 5-9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, Colletta will offer three flights for $16. Every subsequent Sunday, this Italian restaurant will feature a different variety of wines alongside rotating small bites.

Design-a-bag challenge: So you think you can draw? In support of No Kid Hungry, The Fresh Market is calling kids 15 and under to design its next reusable shopping bag now through Feb. 2. The top two artists will have their designs printed on reusable shopping, which will be sold in The Fresh Market stores nationwide in 2016. 50-percent of all bag sales will benefit No Kid Hungry.
