The guys behind a popular Lawrenceville restaurant are set to serve up a whole new kind of cuisine next week.

Strange Taco Bar, from Local Republic owners Ben Bailey and Chris Collin , is scheduled to open Monday. The restaurant is located in the former Local Republic space at 225 W. Crogan St. The Local Republic moved to new digs at 139 N. Perry St. in January.

Bailey likened Strange Taco offerings to those at Atlanta chain Bartaco , when he talked to the AJC in 2016, saying tacos using meats like lamb and duck will be on the menu. Service will be of the walk-up variety.

There will be beer on tap and "a killer margarita," Collin said.

"The [Lawrenceville] square has a ton of lunch business," he said. "... But there's also a lot of people that don't have an hour for lunch, and there's nothing on the square that has that fast casual."
