The food hall craze in Atlanta continues with news that the team behind The General Muir is opening a micro food hall in Midtown. The latest venture for business partners Todd Ginsberg, Shelley Sweet, and Jennifer and Ben Johnson is The Canteen, a mini food hall that will take the space of The Spence, which recently shuttered at 75 Fifth St., N.W., at Tech Square.

The Canteen will include outposts of Fred's Meat & Bread and Yalla, both of which also have locations in Krog Street Market , as well as a spinoff of The General Muir called TGM Bagel, which will serve bagels, coffee and breakfast items, and Square Bar, which will serve juices and smoothies in the morning and will transition to a full bar featuring beer, wine, frozen drinks and cocktails later in the day.

The venue will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will hit a variety of price points.

An early 2017 opening is anticipated, upon completion of a six-month renovation to the space.
