It seems almost too good to be true -- beloved West Coast burger chain announces its first Atlanta location with a sign asking potential employees to submit applications.
Well, you know they say -- if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
A sign hanging in the old Little Five Points Coin Laundry and Dry Cleaners space at 299 Moreland Ave. NE advertising the first In-N-Out burger location in the southeast grabbed the attention of several people on social media this morning:
The thing is, though, it almost certainly is a drill. It's April 1 y'all -- remember?
Just to make sure, we reached a customer service rep from In-N-Out, who said he couldn't comment on future locations.
But wait! We also contacted Amy Corley, a public relations representative for Hattie B's Chicken, the Nashville restaurant that's supposed to set up shop in that very location this year. She confirmed that Hattie B's is very much still planning to move into the space.
But the nearly definitive confirmation that this is a prank comes via the phone number on the sign: 281-330-8004. The number once belonged to Houston rapper Mike Jones, who rapped the number in his song "Back Then," prompting him to receive thousands of calls. A call to the number now yields an automatic disconnection.
Which is all to say: Sorry Atlanta, it doesn't look like we're getting an In-N-Out, at least not right now. But you can take solace in knowing you have delicious hot chicken to look forward to.
