Old Fourth Ward gallery and watering hole, Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium , was closed by a fire on Wednesday evening, around 7:30 p.m.
Owner Grant Henry said the fire started in an exhaust fan above the ladies room, but caused minimal damage, thanks to some quick work by employees.
"Staff used extinguishers until the fire department came, which was super quick," Henry said. "We were the lucky ones. Hope to be open again soon."
Known for displays of Henry’s satirical artwork and ongoing pingpong tournaments, "Church" has become a celebrity destination since opening in late 2010, with the likes of Lady Gaga making the scene.
