Dubbed an "upscale Indian-inspired American restaurant," Amara is now open at 870 Inman Village Parkway in Inman Park. It's the second restaurant from restaurateur Sandeep Kothary, the owner of Tabla Indian restaurant in Midtown.
Bhavesh Patel, previously of Morningside Kitchen and Spice Market, is the head chef, and Joseph McCoy, previously of Better Half, The Iberian Pig, and Abattoir/Bacchanalia, is the sous chef.
The menu is tapas-style, with a variety of small and large plates meant to be shared. Look for the likes of a roasted beet salad with chevre, coriander crème fraiche and octopus with spicy romesco and caper kachumber, and larger plates such as lamb chops with dilled lentils, beet cake, and rogan josh jus, and paneer gnocchi with lemongrass, curry leaf, coconut milk and olive kitchdi.
