A Florida-based barbecue restaurant has closed the doors on its only Georgia location.

4 Rivers Smokehouse closed its location at 822 Marietta St. late last week, Tomorrow’s News Today first reported.

The restaurant confirmed the closure on its website:

We want to thank all of our loyal customers who have supported 4 Rivers Atlanta for the past three years. Unfortunately, we have made the decision to close this restaurant. We have received strong guest and community support in Atlanta from day one, and for that, we are very grateful. Although we have no immediate plans, we remain optimistic that eventually, there will be a Smokehouse in the greater Atlanta area.
- The 4 Rivers Team

The Atlanta location of 4 Rivers opened in 2017 in an old brick firehouse building on Marietta Street on Atlanta's booming Westside. The eatery from founder John Rivers has more than 10 locations in Florida.

The menu offered Texas-style brisket and other smoked meats including pork, chicken, turkey, burnt ends, pork and beef ribs, tri-tip, sausage and wings.

Other offerings included sandwiches, Southern-style sides and vegetarian options.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
