5 restaurants to celebrate Chinese New Year in metro Atlanta

Celebrate Chinese New Year of The Fire Rooster by visiting the following four restaurants for food and drink specials, performances and prizes.

Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta : Chinese New Year afternoon tea service paired with light bites will be offered from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 27, Chinese New Year's Eve, until Feb. 2 in the black and white marble lobby. Menu highlights include barbeque pork buns (chai siu boa), dumplings (guotie), sweet sesame balls and fried mantou, a sweet steamed bun. The tea service will be $35 and $45 per person; the latter also includes a glass of champagne.

Dragon Bowl : Ring in Chinese New Year with food and beverage specials from Jan. 28 – Feb. 11. For a little more incentive to celebrate, crack open a fortune cookie on Jan. 28 for a chance to take home a special prize such as a wish lantern or virtual reality goggles.

Sweet Auburn BBQ : The annual celebration will kick off at 6 p.m. Feb. 2. Guests can ring in the Year of the Rooster with a festive Chinese menu including baos, barbecue egg rolls, spare ribs and specialty drinks. Traditional lion dancers will perform throughout the restaurant at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
