The holidays are in full swing and you’ve been hustling through the crowds, waiting in lines and raking through aisles to purchase gifts for family and friends. And then, with hands full of shopping bags you realize the pantry is empty. This time of year, grocery shopping is the last thing on your mind. That’s where online grocers come into play. You’ve heard of meal delivery services such as PeachDish and Garnish and Gather, but what about a one-stop shop for all your groceries, from toilet paper to bananas.
Elephant Grocers has roamed onto the scene in October as Atlanta's local online grocery store. We talked with David Pemberton, Chief Revenue Officer at Elephant. Here are 5 reasons to give it a try.
Atlanta is their stomping grounds.
The Elephant only delivers in and around Atlanta, which means if you live within 25 miles of the city of Atlanta, you'll receive your groceries the next day with delivery fees ranging from $4.95 to $7.95. The warehouse and distribution center is located in West Midtown, so your groceries don't travel far. If you order a prepared meal, it is made that morning and delivered to you that afternoon. And the company has built partnerships with several local Atlanta companies, such as Spotted Trotter, Atlanta Fresh Yogurt, Doux South and H&F Bakery.

All drivers are employees of the company.
A home delivery grocery service is a special transaction, much different than a checkout line at the cashier. Someone is coming to your door and in some cases, helping you carry groceries into the house. For that reason, every person is vetted and a sole employee of Elephant Grocers, not contracted.
Sometimes, they don’t deliver.
What? Okay, for instance if you order Honeycrisp apples, and their stock is bruised or low-quality, they won’t deliver them to you. Instead, you’ll get a credit for your next purchase.
They give to charity.
Elephants are pristine animals that hold the admiration of the world. Something that people would never forget. The grocers support The Elephant Sanctuary of Tennessee, a habitat refuge for African and Asian elephants.
